| Jo
has tried most forms of exercise known to man, but could not have foreseen
what would happen when she stumbled upon an Ashtanga style yoga class
a few years ago. She has two lovely children, one of whom has special
needs, and found that Ashtanga yoga brought much more than just the
physical benefits and adrenaline rush that come with other forms of
exercise; it brought in addition a sense of self awareness, calm and
mental clarity. In her own circumstances she found this aided her immensely
in dealing with the demands and stresses of having a child with special
needs. In short, she was hooked and it wasn’t long before she
took up daily practice and a teacher training qualification.
Qualifications
She is a qualified teacher with the Chi Yoga School in Glasgow and
a Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher and has been blessed to have the
opportunity to study with some fantastic teachers: June Mitchell and
Julie Hanson of the Chi Yoga School, David Keil, Yoga Miami, Paul Dallaghan
of Yoga Thailand and Rowena Warren, of The Yoga Room in Edinburgh. The
latter three have been authorized to teach by the living guru of ashtanga
yoga Sri K Pattabhi Jois.
She has also completed The Radiant Child Yoga training programme in
Perth and BodyMindKids workshop in London as she believes yoga is not
just for big bodies and minds!
Personal growth
Jo continues her own personal development by attending regular workshops
and seminars.
It is her great desire to pass on the benefits of yoga, particularly
the Ashtanga style, to others in a fun and relaxed way.
